Foyle's War visits Wonersh, Surrey - Tom's Pictures, April 4 - 7, 2005

I managed to see a bit of the filming but most of the time they seemed to be just setting up. The day started with a couple of nurses strolling along and then a bath chair appeared with a chap in pajamas sitting in it. It sat for some time then the occupant jumped up and ran off, I think to change his dressing gown. Off to one side a policeman and a soldier chatted and smoked, when the time came to shoot everyone snapped to their positions and everyone set off on their set paths. I remember a guy on a bike who came round the corner of the building as an ambulance approached, he must have done that half a dozen times before they wrapped the scene.

It was very interesting but I'm sure it must get tedious for the cast and crew. I spotted one woman doing what looked like crochet. The incredible thing is that we had not long moved here from Dorking and had filming done right outside our house and St Martin's church about a year or so before and were amazed when the seminary told us that it was to be filmed here as well. At the time I took some video footage and had a good shot of Michael standing outside the antique shop sheltering from the rain. Although I watch Foyle's War avidly I never saw the episode with our bit of Dorking in it. I hope we see this filming in the next series.

St John's Seminary, Wonersh, was used for filming. You can read more about the history of the seminary and the buildings here.
