Son of Sir Giles Messenger. He openly defied his fathers wishes when he joined S.O.E. He was sent on an assignment in France. Upon arrival and due to an out of date map he walked straight onto a German mine. His code name is Facteur, which is French for postman and as Foyle points out ' postman - everyone's favourite messenger!'
