Very aware of her daughter's flighty nature she is keen for Susan to settle down and marry Ben Barrett but she chooses not to delve too deeply into the source of cash gifts Susan gives her on the quiet or question her daughter's feeble explanation as to where she acquired the brand new nylon stockings she wears to the dance. A bit of an ostrich.
