American Army Private and the naïve lover of Susan Davies who is shocked and horrified to be told she is expecting his child. The last thing he wants is to be forced into a loveless marriage and turns to Sgt O'Connor for advice. O'Connor cynically suggests a fortunate accident is Taylor's only hope of escape. Taylor drinks himself senseless at the dance and is treated by Dr Rogers before coming under suspicion of murder.
