Phyllis works alongside Grace Phillips in the 'suicide squad' at Cunliffe Engineering. She narrowly escapes being blown up in the accident that kills Grace and is generally bolshie and resentful of her working conditions. Only staying in the job because she feels she is supporting 'her Billy' at the front. She despises works manager Eddie Baker and attempts to blackmail him rather than use information she has on him to right a wrong.
